Young Man Charged With Arson, Burglary And Aggravated Assault - Jun. 10, 2019

The State Fire Marshal’s Office has charged a young man who was involved in a high speed chase in Hancock County Sunday with arson, This follows suspicious fires early Sunday morning in Princeton and Indian Township that damaged three buildings.  21 year old James Berube is charged with arson, burglary and aggravated assault.  He was arrested at gunpoint Sunday evening at Dysart’s Moose Crossing store in Trenton by Fire Marshal Sgt. Joel Davis and Trooper Dan Ryan.  A manhunt was underway for Berube in the area and Davis encountered him inside the store as he had stopped to buy a soda for himself.  Fire Marshals say Berube broke into a home in Baileyville earlier in the day, tied up the woman home owner and stole her pickup truck.  It was that truck that Hancock Deputies and Ellsworth Police were involved in a chase Sunday from Ellsworth to Trenton, and abandoned later by the Trenton IGA store.  The Dysart location is about three miles away, both along Route 3.
