Dental Clinic Returns for Yearly Visit

For the Washington County community, the arrival of spring has become synonymous with the arrival of the dental team from New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD). The NYUCD Henry Schein Cares Global Student Outreach Program will be back in Machias and open to care for your dental needs from April 3rd, 7th and 8th, (closed Thursday, April 6). The clinic will be held in Machias at the Lee Pellon Event Center located at 90 Main Street, behind the Subway building.

Washington County Children's Program (WCCP), a program of Sunrise Opportunities, has maintained the partnership with NYUCD and other local groups since 2010. This outreach is a way to provide comprehensive dental care to children in Washington County who do not have a dental home or timely access to dental services. More than 1600 dental sealants and 891 fillings have been provided for nearly 1300 Head Start and school-aged kids. The NYUCD team typically treats almost 600 patients in one week, including adults who would otherwise not be able to access dental care.

This event is open to anyone having trouble accessing dental care. It is not meant to replace regular dental care from your dentist. Children may access complete dental care. Adults will be treated on a walk-in basis for emergency dental care.

Dental services are provided at no out-of-pocket cost but insurance/MaineCare will be accepted when available. Enrollment specialists will be available on-site to help patients identify and apply for the health insurance coverage that best suits their needs. The clinic is made possible by Northeast Delta Dental Foundation and Henry Schein Cares. The Washington County Children's Program  a program of Sunrise Opportunities partners with Down East Community Hospital and Harrington Family Health Center to plan and implement the dental outreach.
