Astronomy Talk with Charlie Sawyer
Stargazing in Downeast Maine can be especially rewarding. With the darkest skies east of the Mississippi, our region offers a light show for even the casual observer. You can boost your understanding of the night sky, and whet your appetite for more, when Porter Memorial Library hosts members of Downeast Amateur Astronomers for a talk about astronomy.
Learn About Astronomy with Charlie Sawyer, Sophia Julianna Davis and Friends will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at 92 Court Street in Machias. Admission to the event is free, and families are encouraged to attend. Expect to learn about comets, neutron stars and more. There will be an open time for questions from the audience.
According to its Facebook page, Downeast Amateur Astronomers is a small group of amateur astronomers that enjoys sharing the Science of Astronomy with the community. For more information about this event, email librarian@porter.lib.me.us or call 207-255-3933. Porter Memorial Library hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
