PRESS RELEASE
***For Immediate Release***
On March 15, 2025 at approximately 10:18 pm the Washington County RCC received a 911 call reporting an assault with a knife had occurred at a residence on Pleasant Street in Lubec and Deputies and EMS were dispatched to that address. Upon arrival Deputies discovered a 51-year-old male with multiple stab wounds and lacerations. According to the victim, the suspect Kenneth Kudrick had fled the scene before authorities arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries and ultimately transferred to Northern Lights in Bangor.
Deputies immediately began searching the area for Kudrick with a Sheriff’s Office K-9 team but after several hours were ultimately unable to locate Kudrick. During the investigation Deputies learned that Kudrick was currently on 8 different sets of bail conditions from Androscoggin County spanning from February 2024 to the most recent in late February 2025 to include misdemeanors and felony level charges. A temporary warrant was issued alerting statewide agencies for the arrest of Kudrick for Aggravated Assault.
On March 16, 2025 before Deputies returned to the area, the Washington County RCC received a report of a fully involved structure fire on Pleasant Street in Lubec. The Lubec Fire Department and surrounding towns were dispatched to the scene. The residence on fire was the same residence where the assault had occurred the night before. The State Fire Marshall’s Office were called to investigate the fire.
Deputies continued to search the area for Kudrick and located him walking on Water Street in Lubec shortly before 3:00 pm and was taken into custody without incident. Kudrick was transported to the Washington County Jail.
On March 17, 2025 Kudrick was arraigned in Machias District Court on the following charges:
Elevated Aggravated Assault (Class A) Reckless Conduct With A Dangerous Weapon (Class C) Assault (Class D) and Violation of Condition of Release (Class D). Kudrick is currently being held at the Washington County Jail pending a $5,000.00 cash bail. The investigation is on going and more charges are likely.
All suspects are considered innocent until convicted in a court of law.
