two picketers on strike at Woodland Pulp in Baileyville were allegedly struck by a car driven by a salaried employee.
The picketers recognized the woman behind the wheel as a worker at the plant.
Maine Senate President Troy Jackson, who was on the picket line, said the car tried to push the picketers out of the way and hit two of them.
The strike by the union representing mechanics and oilers at Woodland Pulp followed the rejection of a company proposal.
A video of the incident was published on Maine AFL-CIO’s Facebook page.
Woodland Pulp’s executive director for human resources claimed the incident was staged, but Jackson called this claim “ridiculous.”
