Free Family Harvest Meal
Families trick or treating in the business district of Machias on October 27th during the town’s annual “Trick or Treat Down Main Street” event will be treated to a free, nutritious roast chicken dinner at the Lee Pellon Center from 4 – 6 pm hosted by the Community Caring Collaborative (CCC) and partners.
Envisioned as a community Halloween party and a gift to parents after the long, chilly trek with costumed kids through downtown Machias, the Family Harvest Meal will provide a wholesome, hot meal they don’t have to prepare themselves to either eat in or take home.
Angie’s Comfort Kitchen will once again cater and serve this meal consisting of roast chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes, harvest vegetables, apple and blueberry crisp, and more desserts donated by local organizations.
CCC partner organizations are invited to display program and service materials on resource tables around the perimeter of the Lee Pellon Center, along with games and activities for kids.
Door prizes will be offered throughout the event adding another element of excitement to the festivities.
“We’re planning on hundreds of meals,” said CCC Director, Charley Martin-Berry, “and we’re asking for help from the community in making sure families get to enjoy dinner on this fun night.” For the first time in the five years the CCC has coordinated Family Harvest Meal, donations to sponsor meals at $15 each are encouraged in a campaign the CCC has set up on the Givebutter platform. If you’d like to make a donation, you can visit the CCC’s Facebook page or website at www.cccmaine.org. We are thankful for your generosity and invite you to join us on October 27th.
