On Monday, April 22, 2024, local fire departments responded to two incendiary fires at two separate residential properties located off of Stanley Mountain Road in the town of Mount Desert. The Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scenes to investigate. 58-year-old Glenn P. Stanley of MDI was charged with two counts of Arson in connection with the two fires at the separate residential properties. No one was home at either residence at the time. Stanley was transported to the Hancock County Jail. Please contact the jail for a booking photo.
The Fire Marshal office was assisted by the Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Police Department, Acadia National Park Rangers and the Mount Desert Fire Department. Also helping on scene was Southwest Harbor, Tremont, Trenton, and Ellsworth Fire Departments. No other information is available at this time.
