Good afternoon. It’s Lupe Soto with your news on classic hits and here’s what’s happening. On the Maine side, we just really want our local youth especially to have a place to recreate, have something to do,

have it to be a safe and inviting and family friendly venue. Calais Police are investigating a report of vandalism at the Calais Skate Park. The Brendan Leddy Memorial Fund raised over $700 to install a plaque to honor the members who helped establish the park.

President of the Fund Spencer McCormick McCormick, in his own words, tells us what happened. – We found out that our memorial plaque for our fallen skate park members was cracked into pieces and believe we found a rock next to it and we installed this two years ago and some of those members that were listed on the plaque don’t really have another site to memorialize them where they would lie being deceased.

We believe we found a rock next to it. We believe that the vandalists who did this, you know, is not a regular user of the park, clearly does not understand our story and how the park was formed.

Purely volunteer work through 20 plus years with countless community and local business members donating their time. We’re upset but not discouraged. We have some temporary cameras up at the park.
