Maine State Police say a suspect who led officers on a high-speed chase that began in Hancock County poses a threat to public safety.
The chase began around 9am Tuesday with a report of a driver operating erratically on Route 1A in Dedham.
State Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop but the vehicle made a U-turn and began traveling towards Holden.
The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.
The vehicle then continued north on Route 46 to the intersection of Route 9 in Eddington and then began traveling west towards Brewer.
The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of Auto works on Main Road in Eddington, struck a parked vehicle, and the driver took off on foot.
The crash took down a power pole.
Police later received a report about a GMC pickup being stolen from a residence nearby.
The pickup was recovered a short time later, and a black 2017 Toyota Camry with a license plate of 436AVV had been stolen.
The suspect and the Camry remain at large.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
